champagne and sequins: how'd we do?

This year's Champagne and Sequins. Was it the best year ever? Let's review what we did right:
The addition of the Family Dinner Band was VERY well received. What a wonderful moment.
BUT. When we get right down to it, something was missing.
Oh well. It was fun! We will just have to try again next year!!! Thanks for coming!!

target: rodarte, harajuku mini, and more!

Hit the December 1st Target thing. Was... mildly impressed. Tons left. The only thing remotely low was the Rodarte wrapping paper. I left one of the shelf when I bought the limit of 5. I actually can wallpaper a room in these planets!
Also, remember THIS. Did not happen. Not even close. But these hairpins will do just fine. I wish they were all silver. When I returned the dress, I cruised the shoes. Children's dresses might not fit (at all), BUT these size 5 girl's shoes sure do! Kid's shoes are like little boats, so round and wide, I love it! And they were 20 bucks! I suppose because they are the same shoe they sell in size 1, which can basically fit in the palm of your hand. Can't sell that for more then a 20. Anyway, very holiday and darling.

margiela wish list.

I did not sleep in a tent for Margiela x H&M. My bank account told me I couldn't. I am hope hope hoping against hope this collection goes the way of Versace for H&M and hits those clearance racks hard. I must have a candy clutch. And that dress belongs at Champagne and Sequins the Fourth (The Second). Instead, I wore this jammie top from last years Marni treasure hunt. Still good.

harajuku mini velvet dress vs harajuku mini plaid dress.

I ordered this dress today from Target, it's a Harajuku Mini Velvet Dress. I am hoping it is my 2012 Holiday dress, just like it's predecessor, the Harajuku Mini Plaid Dress. Time will tell as that velvet bodice doesn't look nearly as forgiving as the cotton plaid was. Oh jeez. What was I thinking.
This is what all my friends (and I) looked like last year. Morgs, that hair! Shelbs, that hair! Alexis, I love that tight perm. KK. Adore.

In other news, if you adopt Miss Figgy, she comes with this complimentary Figs sweatshirt. Found on ASOS here: Elizabeth Lau Dog and Bone Sweatshirt, $131. (Free with Fig adoption/purchase.)

mike and dean get married!

We went to a most goergeous ever wedding a couple weeks ago. Mike and Dean. FOREVER. Here are some babes hanging post ceremony. We got to drink these juleps during the ceremony (I just realized how much I love drinking during the actual ceremony part of a wedding.):
Major babes.
Best photobooth I've ever seen.
Paul and Timmy. Good job working in that little pop of color Paul McGee.
Wedding are mostly: "Take our picture!"
Amazing couple. Amazing wedding.

all buttoned up, broken down.

A friend once told me about my trepidation wearing orange, like real deal ORANGE, lipstick "you just have to wear it. Put it on and then wear it." YES. And that's exactly what I did. After one time of not thinking about having a neon orange stripe of color on my face, all colors were fair game. I had a hell of a time finding this MAC limited edition CandyYumYum. But with hard work, perseverance  and a stupid amount of money for one lipstick, I did it. I own it and I wear it. Then I OWN it.

chicago: fashion's night out.

This pretty much sums up Fashion's Night Out in Chicago. A lot of walking around in swan wedges that ended up being switched out for black ballet flats about three quarters of the way through our very extensive search for a good party and some champagne.
I did wear my new backpack though! And my new rings.
AND my new shirt. All of those things ordered from NastyGal and arriving just in time.

post vacation and/or vacation post.

I decided about mid way through of Puerto Rican vacation last week that I wanted to dress like I was on vacation all the time.
In other words, dress every day like Shelby (of foureyed) dresses every day. With purpose.
I suppose the easy way to do that in clear out all the filler in my closet.
Again, in other words, keep a closet like Shelby's. In my particular case, judging from the dining room table as I packed- everything that is not neon, striped, black, white or for shoes, shaped like a horse hoof- is out.

Charlotte Russe crop top, Forever21 pants, Marni x H&M sandals.

i love love!

A dear friend of mine recently decided to pledge love forever to her number main man. They are planning a winter commitment party. It. Will. Be. Just. The. Best. I was kicking it with her niece a few weeks back who couldn't be prouder to have been asked to be a part of the big day. As we discussed the most pressing question- WHAT TO WEAR?!, she said she didn't love dresses and really wanted to wear red suspenders. I mean. How cool can you be?? I've been thinking about it ever since. I once owned a pair of navy velvet trousers that I wore to threads and also a pair of men's tuxedo pants. Never felt so good as when walking in those slouching down and all buttoned up on top. Menswear as evening wear is just everything. I added a foppish bow tie to smarten it up. And big ole brogues to anchor it all.
Bowties, all ASOS.
Red Suspenders!
Trousers: JCrew Girls, JCrew Boys Ludlow, Harajuku Mini.
Shoes: JCrew Girls, Steve Madden, School Issue.

And an homage to the original, the YSL Le Smoking. (Made a little more kid friendly!)
